Single Review: 5ever - "Champagne"

5ever pop punk single review

Boston's pop punk newcomers, 5ever, recently introduced themselves with a fresh song & video called "Champagne." This single is not only the group's debut release, but also initiates the hype for their upcoming EP Forever on September 10th.
It's no wonder 5ever chose to release their music video first, as the video deliberately mirrors the introspective lyrics. Every passing-day frame is set on the living room couch flipping through holidays, birthdays & other various events.
"Champagne" offers itself as an electric quarantine anthem (or an anthem for anyone who just feels stagnant.) Lead vocalist, Sam Nazaretian, incorporates pop punk melodies with a some darker instrumentation, resulting in that nostalgic emo-Myspace-era sound. Bassist & vocalist, Chance Wells, enhances this ethos with a gritty spoken-word verse following the first chorus. With all of these elements catering to the diehard pop punk listener, the possibility of becoming enthralled with 5ever is inevitable.

"I try to take my time, but I can't wait anymore." Nazaretian's lyrics plea for the end of this monotonous cycle and so do we. In the meantime, be smart, safe & support your new favorite band, 5ever
